Arguably the greatest bronc rider of all time.
He held the “World All-Around Cowboy Champion” title twice, in 1951 and 1955. He won in 1949, 1951–1954, and 1959, the world saddle bronc riding championship and in 1951 world bareback bronc riding championship. He was featured on the October 22, 1951 cover of Life magazine.
His catalog of movie roles is extensive. He was friends to the who’s who of Stars of pop culture of the 40s until his passing in 1990.
He competed at the highest level of pro rodeo through his movie career, making his final competition in Salt Lake City … less than a half hour’s drive from my studio.
